SYB Optimist Fastpitch Softball Skills Clinics
& Summer Camps

The SYB Optimist Club of Lusby (SYB) seeks to make the sports experience safe, fun and healthy for all children ages 4 to 15. In addition, SYB promotes the value and importance of sports and physical activities in the emotional, physical, social and mental development of youth. We believe that participation in sports and activities develops important character traits and lifelong values. In addition, we believe that the lives of our youth can be positively influenced by participation in sports and physical activities, if the adults apply their training and information.

• SYB Optimist Club of Lusby Volunteers play an active role in a lot of community events and activities that keep our volunteers busy, for instance:

  • Respect For Law Program

  • Annual Fourth of July Carnival

  • Oratorical Program

  • Christmas Tree Sales

  • and others ...

• These volunteers give alot of their time, creativity, and talent to the successful operation of these events year after year. The volunteers and the participants that commit themselves year after year are what keeps these activities and Optimist sponsored events going so that our community continues to offer the support and opportunities are young people deserve.

• The ’Club’ is most widely known in the community for its dedication to youth sports:

• The Babe Ruth Baseball/Softball Program was formed during the ’Clubs’ first years when youth sports were really starting to take off in Calvert County. The success of the Babe Ruth Baseball/Softball Program has continued to grow and now includes additional opportunities for our youth to participate and gain the confidence and skills they need to move to the next level.

SYB MAGIC BASKETBALL

• The Basketball Program that is managed by SYB Optimist Club Volunteers is another outlet for our youth to shine in the world of sports. This program gives our young men and women the opportunity to learn the fundamentals and develop the confidence and individual self-esteem of being part of a team.
