Q: What is Respect For Law? and How would I obtain more information?
In July 1965, a discussion between Past International President Carl Bowen and former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, resulted in the birth of the Respect For Law Program.
As the title suggests, the program inspires respect for the law among young people. This special week has been chosen to encourage peace and harmony within communities all over the world.
SYB Optimist of Lusby, normally in cooperation with other Optimist Clubs in Calvert County sponsor an awards ceremony and dinner recognizing Outstanding Law Enforcement Officers in our community each year. The recipients are nominated and selected by their peers and supervisors. The event is usually held in May and the officers selected have their names and photos placed in the local papers. Please check Events, as the dates and times, when available, will be posted there..
For additional information, please contact Dottie Hagelin.
